Antique Japanese Crane Timber Bucket
This beautifully crafted antique wooden bucket showcases traditional Asian craftsmanship, featuring a gracefully carved crane head handle and wings. Circa late 19th-early 20th century.
Made from solid wood with a rich, aged patina, the bucket has a timeworn finish that enhances it's character. It's sturdy yet elegant design suggests it was once used for carrying water, grain or other essentials in daily life. The curved crane head handle makes it easy to carry with heavy loads. The crane is seen as a national treasure in Japan and a symbol of good luck and longevity.
Perfect as a decorative piece, planter, fireplace wood or kindling storage, it could be used in many areas of the home and is an eye-catching decor item and conversation starter. It will bring a touch of history and artistry to any space, a wonderfully unique and hard to find Asian antique.
In overall very good antique condition, the wire strapping is in place (this is very often seen loose on other examples). The back timber piece which incorporates the handle is split slightly (pictured) - depending on your use this could be glued and clamped/re-joined, or you can still use it as is, it does not affect the overall solidity of the piece.
