Melba Ware Toby Character Jug 'Henry VIII'

A collectible Melba Ware character jug 'Henry VIII', made in England, c.1950s.

This jug was modelled on Henry Tudor (1491 - 1547), the King of Great Britain from 1509 to 1547. His life is well known, he married six times in an attempt to produce a male heir to the throne, which led to him being excommunicated by the Pope for divorce. He then founded the Church of England.

Produced by H. Wain & Sons under their Melba Ware label. The generous size is well suited to not only decorative display, but functional enjoyment as well.

In excellent vintage condition.
