1921 MacRobertson Collectible Book 'A Young Man and a Nail Can'
A rare and wonderful pictorial publication 'A Young Man and a Nail Can', a look at the history and workings of MacRobertson Chocolate, a Melbourne based confectioner. Published 1921.
At the height of his success Macpherson Robertson owned seventeen factories and employed over 3000 people, an astounding Australian commercial achievement.
Full of fascinating factory photos, staff photos, machinery and equipment, and transportation. There are 9 full colour pictures at the rear, of products such as Cinderella Bon Bons, Candy Easter Eggs and Chocolate Wrappings, as they were packaged then. This book is not only a glimpse into Australian industrial history, but also a delightful advertising artefact.
In overall good condition for it's age - of note, the cover has come away from the spine at the front, one page has damage to the bottom, the cover is worn (all these are pictured). I can only upload 10 photos, if you would like any more please ask. Majority of photos and pages are in very good/excellent condition.
A very collectible publication and wonderful piece of Australian ephemera. I believe this originally was bound in a leather hard cover, which is no longer part of it.
Measures approx. 290mm x 230mm, 92 pages
