Australian Mulga Wood Bookends - St Margaret's Berwick Grammar
Add charm and character to your bookshelf with these one-of-a-kind hand made vintage Australian Mulga wood bookends.
Each bookend is painted with the logo for St. Margaret's Berwick Grammar, situated in Victoria, Australia, and features a natural bark finish to the bottom edge.
Solid, heavy and sturdy, these bookends are also suitable for horse lovers with the decorative accent of a horse head and the Latin motto 'Virtute et labore' - this is a Latin phrase that translates to 'by virtue and labor' or 'with courage and effort'. They combine to form what was one large circle, halved to create the 2 bookends.
Souvenirs crafted from mulga became popular in the post WW2 years. Well suited to the home office, or a thoughtful gift for horse and equestrian decor collectors.
In excellent vintage condition, may have some minor marks consistent with age and use.
