Amber Glass Ruffled Edge Centrepiece Bowl with Silver Overlay
This elegant vintage bowl features stunning silver deposit work applied to the interior surface of rich amber or golden-yellow glass. With ruffled or 'handkerchief' style top rim with an ornate, flowing leaf and flower pattern.
Although unmarked, this technique suggests the Art Nouveau era c.1910s/1920s.
The exterior glass features a thumbprint or dimple pattern in three rows around the perimeter from the base to the top. The thick silver top rim is also detailed with a dimpled pattern to the exterior. An ornately detailed centrepiece bowl.
The silver deposit is in wonderful condition with minimal wear, some minor tarnish seen to the top rim. The glass is also in excellent condition with one very small chip seen to the underneath, which cannot be seen and does not affect the sides or appearance. No marking to the silver, possibly silver plated.
This is a beautiful and collectible piece that displays elegantly and catches the light beautifully.
Measures approx. 250mm diameter (widest) x 140mm (H), 95mm diameter base.
