Royal Doulton Character Jug 'The Cavalier'

A collectible Royal Doulton Character Jug 'The Cavalier', made in England, c.1940s.

Modelled on a Royalist soldier from the English Civil War, and based on a painting by Dutch artist Franz Hals, titled 'The Laughing Cavalier'. Designed by Harry Fenton and introduced in 1941.

Number D6173, with 'A' mark, indicating early production.

Royal Doulton produced character jugs for more than six decades, and examples such as these remain highly regarded by collectors. 

Suitable for decorative display, or to be enjoyed as part of a breakfast or table setting.

In excellent vintage condition.
