This art tile represents Santa Ines, the 19th Spanish mission and named after Saint Agnes. It is in excellent condition, timber framed, with a historical timeline from 1804 - 1948 on the rear of the tile. Textural art and wording with a slightly raised effect and in a very rustic style. Rare style, have not seen another in this design.
Mission Santa Ines was a Spanish mission in the city of Solvang, California. it was founded on September 17, 1804.
The mission was home to the first learning institution in Alta California and today serves as a museum as well as a parish church of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. It is also designated a National Historic Landmark, noted as one of the best-preserved of the 21 California missions.
